Our Racehorse Trainer

Alex Hales is an up and coming young trainer who had been an assistant to several notable trainers before starting on his own, which of course helped him learn and establish himself in the training ranks. He has a wonderful team of staff, all of whom are exceedingly helpful and hardworking. Running a smaller stable is a very difficult task and demands much dedication which Alex has in abundance. His partner Sally runs a horse transport business which enables the yard to be more flexible as to where the horses run, she also rides out as well and i believe does the accounts amongst all her other jobs.

Alex and I work very closely when looking at races, which I might add is a complicated procedure nowadays and sometimes two pairs of eyes are better than one. All purchases are carefully considered between us unless it is a gut feeling on my part. we have to be very careful what we buy as we do not have the resources that large owners enjoy.

Alex produced five winners and twelve places for us in 2006 which was highly creditable considering the injuries and losses we incurred. Last year we had 11 winners and 27 placed horses. We are grateful for Alex’s hard work and know we could not have picked a better or nicer person, thank you Alex!
